Seberg: Kristen Stewart's Best Performance

Seberg is based on the life of actress Jean Seberg played by Kristen Stewart. During the 1960s Seberg was financially helped the black panthers and the FBI was investigating and trying to discredit her because they saw civil rights groups as a threat at the time. The movie also stars Anthony Mackie, Zazie Beetz, Vince Vaughn, Stephen Root, Jack O'Connell, and Yvan Attal.

Kristen Stewart really captures the essence of a 1960s actress. Her mannerisms and voice inflection are very innocent and naive. As Jean, she is interested in doing more meaningful roles in movies. While in California she gets involved with the Black Panther civil rights group and wants to help. Anthony Mackie plays one of the prominent leaders of the Black Panthers and the two get involved.

Eventually Seberg gets noticed by the FBI because she is funding the Black Panthers. Vince Vaughn and Jack O’Connell are the FBI agents following her. While watching her through surveillance, he develops feelings for her and doesn’t want to ruin her life. Vince Vaughn doesn’t care and plays a real scumbag. Once the FBI is wiretapping and following Seberg, she becomes paranoid and hysterical. Kristen Stewart really conveys her paranoia and downward spiral as she loses her sanity.

Stewart’s performance really carries this movie even if the subject matter isn’t as engaging as it should be. She deserves an Oscar nomination for Seberg. 🍔🍔 and 1/2 🍔
